The move aims to realise the tasks set in the component on climate change response, which is part of the target programme on climate change adaptation and green growth.

The management, use and settlement of the fund must be complied with the current regulations in the most effective and economically manner.

The target programme on climate change adaptation and green growth for the period of 2016-2020 was approved by the Prime Minister in October 2017, aiming to tap into the capabilities of the whole country in undertaking measures to adapt to the impacts of climate change, mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and ensure the safety of life and property.

Under the programme, efforts will be made to complete 30 transitional projects in the PM’s Document No. 1443/TTg-QHQT dated September 19, 2012 by 2020, in addition to 42 projects to grow coastal mangroves and watershed protection forests, as well as a number of priority projects mentioned in the PM’s Document No. 78/TTg-QHQT dated January 16, 2015, and other urgent projects.

The programme also sets the target of planting and rehabilitating 10,000 hectares of coastal mangroves and watershed protection forests, with the aim of adapting to climate change, absorbing two million tonnes of carbon dioxide each year and creating stable livelihoods for the people.
