In his letter, penned on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of Vietnam’s Natural Disaster Prevention and Control Day (May 22, 1946-2019) and the first-ever National Week for Natural Disaster Preparedness and Control, the Party chief sent his warm greetings to all fellow soldiers and those working in the natural disaster rescue forces, as well as the Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (the Committee).

He noted with pleasure the solidarity among the entire political system and drastic directions of the Government and the Committee, as well as the positive participation of armed forces and people in the prevention and control of natural disasters over the past year.

On behalf of Party and State leaders, he applauded agencies, organisations and individuals who have actively engaged in preventing, responding and addressing the consequences of natural disasters and also those who have made donations to people affected by natural disasters.

At a time when the natural disaster situation and global climate change are getting more complicated, he asked the Party committees at all levels, as well as local authorities, agencies, organisations, armed forces and the entire people to raise a higher sense of solidarity, awareness, and forecasting and warning capacity on natural disasters.

He also requested for more synchronous and effective measures to minimise the impacts of natural disaster and reduce human and property losses, thus contributing to protecting people's lives and facilitating the country’s sustainable development.
