The information was announced at a press brief in Hanoi on June 4 to introduce the campaign, which is organised by the Vietnam Youth Federation in coordination with the National Volunteer Centre and Suam Brothers Vietnam JSC.

With the theme "Kindness to the ocean", the campaign focuses on raising awareness for people, tourists as well as the whole community about the important role of the sea in daily lives, calling everyone to join hands in protecting the marine environment with practical and specific activities. It also stresses the importance of organising social activities and encouraging fishermen to head to the sea for a stable income.

The organisers said that the launching ceremony for the campaign will take place at Sa Ky port in Binh Chau commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province on June 8, with multiple practical activities on the spot. On the same day, the campaign will be simultaneously launched in 28 coastal provinces and cities across the country.

The campaign was initiated and coordinated by the National Volunteer Centre and the VTV24 News Centre under the Vietnam Television in 2016 in 28 provinces and cities with coastline. In the last few years, the campaign has attracted hundreds of thousands of Youth Union members, youngsters, students, local people, organisations and enterprises in its responsive and worthwhile activities.
