Activities respond to World Environment Day

The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) in co-ordination with the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City organised a walk for the environment as well as planting trees on June 5 as part of activities in response to World Environment Day.

Speaking at the ceremony, HUFO Vice President Nguyen Van Manh said the event is help to raise awareness on environment protection and air pollution reduction.

He also took this occasion to thank the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City for cooperating with HUFO to organise many meaningful activities in the fields of arts, culture, sports, education, helping further strengthen the fine friendship and solidarity between the people of Vietnam and India.

For his part, Acting Consul General C. Kandpal emphasised that the walk for the environment and tree planting not only contributed to honour the value and importance of environmental protection activities, but also popularise thoughts and love of Mahatma Gandhi in regards to nature and ecosystems.

Also on June 5, nearly 1,000 people joined a Recycling Festival in Ha Long City, in the northern province of Quang Ninh.

Many practical activities were held such as an exhibition, a painting contest on the environmental protection initiatives; an introduction and promotion of recycled products; among others.
