The joint programme on environmental protection and climate change response, which was signed between the Standing Board of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Centre Committee, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and 14 religions in Vietnam in December 2015, has brought about spillover effects among the community.

The conference also aims to share experience and effective models of regions in protecting the environment and responding to climate change while strengthening the responsibility of regions in implementing the joint programme.

Speaking at the conference, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man emphasised the significance of environmental protection while calling on 16 regions in Vietnam to coordinate with central and local agencies and international organisationsto effectively implement the joint programme.

At the event, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment presented certificates of merit to 39 collectives, 20 individuals and nine effective models in carrying out the joint programme on environmental protection.

The two-day conference will continue on October 15 with two plenary sessions and a thematic discussion on orientations, plans, and commitments of religions in promoting the implementation of the joint programme. The event also features booths displaying results of the joint programme.

The conference will also work out contents of the joint programme in the 2020 – 2025 period.
