Photo of red-shanked douc wins first prize at Vietnam Biodiversity Photo Contest

NDO – Winners of the 2020 Vietnam Biodiversity Photo Contest were honoured at an awards ceremony in Hanoi on October 1 with first prize going to Pham Van Phung for his photo of the red-shanked douc living on the Son Tra Peninsula in Da Nang city.

Two second prizes were won by Dinh Tat Canh and Pham Quoc Thang for their photos capturing nature at Bau Ca Cai mangrove forest in Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province; and Tuyen Lam lake in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province, respectively.

Three third and five consolation prizes were also presented to other excellent entries at the ceremony.

The photo contest was launched in May this year by the Vietnam Environment Administration to raise public awareness of biodiversity conservation and encourage creativity amongst entrants to produce more in-depth images of nature conservation and biodiversity.

The event attracted more than 2,000 entries from 120 contestants, whose works praise the Vietnam’s biodiversity and reminded viewers’ of their responsibilities in terms of biodiversity preservation.
