Cooperation agreement signed on herbal products research

The signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in promoting scientific and technological research activities between the Vietnam-Korea Institute of Science and Technology (VKIST) under the Ministry of Science and Technology and domestic and foreign partners took place on September 30 at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park.

Accordingly, VKIST signed an MoU with two enterprises and a research institute, including: CVI Cosmetic and Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company; and Nam Duoc Joint Stock Company and the Institute for Control Engineering and Automation (ICEA) under the Hanoi University of Science Technology (HUST), with the aim to promote research and development activities in the fields of biotechnology and electronics.

The signing of the MoU with two pharmaceutical companies will contribute to improving the research capacity of the parties, exploit the medicinal potential of Vietnam, improve the quality of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products, and meet the increasing demands of consumers.

At the signing ceremony, Dr. Kum Dongwha - Director of VKIST said that in the coming time, the Institute will focus its resources on the field of biotechnology. The coordination with Cosmetic and Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company will focus on developing pharmaceutical and cosmetic product lines from herbs. On the basis of the research cooperation, the topic will be evaluated, accepted and applied in production to serve life.

VKIST is expected to become a technology and solution provider for businesses dominating the market in Vietnam. So far, the Institute has been in operation for more than four years, with the forming of four laboratories in priority fields including: biotechnology, information technology, integrated biotechnology - information technology, and electronics.
