The PC-COVID app, created under the Prime Minister’s direction, unifies many features on epidemic prevention and control. It was developed based on the technology and data of many previous epidemic prevention apps such as Bluezone, NCOVI and VHD.

PC-COVID is designed to connect, check and authenticate four existing data sources, including: the national population database (managed by the Ministry of Public Security), national insurance database (managed by Vietnam Social Security), national database on COVID-19 prevention (managed by Ministry of Health) and the databased on COVID-19 testing.

The main features of PC-COVID are: the issuance and management of personal and location QR codes; scanning QR codes; health declaration; declaration of domestic movement; feedback from the people; vaccination information; testing information; COVID-19 cards; the tracing of close contact, travel densities, infection trends, and risk maps.

Since September 30, the PC-COVID app has been available on the Apple Store and Google Play. Bluezone and NCOVI will automatically update personal information and vaccination information on the new app so users do not have to declare them again.

User data for analysis and tracing of infections and suspected cases will be stored and secured by Government agencies and used only for helping people protect their health and fight against the pandemic, absolutely not for commercial purposes nor invading their privacy.

The official document on the deployment of PC-COVID app will be issued to localities next week. The Ministry of Information and Communications will organise a training session on the newly-launched app on a national scale.
