Vietnam, Japan to coordinate in environmental treatment

A workshop on connecting businesses in the field of environmental treatment, between the Mekong Delta and Japan's Hiroshima Prefecture, was held in Can Tho city on September 12.

Co-organised by the Southwest Steering Committee (SSC), Can Tho municipal People's Committee and Soc Trang provincial People's Committee, the workshop features the participation of more than 60 representatives from the Departments of Natural Resources and Environment and over 80 enterprises in the field of environmental treatment from 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region.

Kawaguchi Kazunari, Head of the Foreign Investment Promotion Department of Hiroshima prefecture, said that the connection will help to tighten the relationships between the two sides, solve environmental issues and develop more business opportunities with the Mekong Delta region, which has a lot of potential for development in the future.

He also expressed his hope that through the event, state agencies and enterprises of both sides would become partners in developing business opportunities within the region.

At the workshop, Dao Anh Dung, Vice Chairman of People's Committee of Can Tho city, said that environmental issues at enterprises in the Mekong Delta are one of the issues of particular concern.
With the goal of socio-economic development associated with environmental protection, the connection is considered as an opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises to meet and exchange new technologies and scientific achievements related to environmental treatment of Japanese enterprises, he added.

At the conference, Hiroshima's companies introduced new technologies and achievements in environmental treatment. Especially, the organic farming process of Aina Company, with the use of Aina solution mixed with husk fermentation in order to make fertilizer for plants, was presented at the event.
