The Deputy PM, who is also Vice Chairman of the National Committee for Information Technology Application, made the requirement while chairing his committee’s meeting yesterday to review the work in 2017 and launch the 2018 tasks.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy PM Dam evaluated that multiple efforts have been made by ministries, sectors and localities to accelerate the application of IT and the provision of online public services.

He urged the ministries and sectors to continue implementing the tasks assigned to them in 2017, including the facilitation of the hiring of IT services, the finalisation of regulations on Vietnam’s specific and specialised IT products and devices, and the building of the national public service portal.

Hailing businesses as a pioneering force in the implementation of the fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0), the deputy PM requested that the ministries, sectors and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) resolutely support firms in their affairs related to administrative procedures and public services.

Priority should be given to implementing public service solutions related to enterprises, he said, adding that micro enterprises need to be consulted on solutions for IT application.

Furthermore, it is necessary to create a market for IT enterprises, first of all for IT services hiring and then developing a master plan to support the startup community.

The application of IT should be also focused on several areas that are most relevant to the community, including learning, improving knowledge, healthcare, information and entertainment, Dam suggested.

The State Bank shall coordinate with the Ministry of Information and Communications and large enterprises in the early implementation of electronic payment-related tasks. The Ministry of Information and Communications should coordinate with the relevant ministries and branches to review and upgrade the database.

The Deputy PM also gave his directions to remove obstacles to promote the development of broadband infrastructure, deploying electronic payments and developing a number of key national IT products and solutions.
