The statement was made by Paik Un Gyu, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy of the RoK, at a Vietnam-RoK Forum on electricity and renewable energy held in Ho Chi Minh City on February 2.

He also emphasised that the RoK would promote investment in power production and renewable energy projects in Vietnam, as well as supporting Vietnam in training human resources and transferring technology.

The RoK side also expressed their wish to learn about Vietnam’s strategy and plans for the development of electricity and renewable energy in order to form effective cooperation and investment in the near future.

Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vo Tan Thanh noted that the Vietnamese Government has issued numerous mechanisms and policies in order to develop renewable energy, as well as enhancing international cooperation and calling for foreign investment.

At present, Vietnam has around 50 wind power projects, over 100 solar power projects and many other biomass energy projects.
