Co-organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee, the event featured the participation of delegations from the MCST, tourism managers, environmental protection experts, scientists and representatives of the government and the departments of culture, sport and tourism in five of the Central Highlands provinces.

The Central Highlands region is home to 47 ethnic groups with different cultural values, creating a unique cultural treasure in Vietnam. The strength of the Central Highlands tourism is ecotourism with its wild nature and historical cultural tourism.

In recent years, tourism activities in the Central Highlands region have had an impact on the environment at various levels.

At the workshop, there were 29 memoirs by scientists, tourism managers, experts and localities on specific issues such as: the actual environmental situation of the localities in the region; assessing the impact of tourism on the environment; environmental protection activities in some tourist areas or national parks; community tourist areas; preserving traditional cultural values; ecotourism models; agricultural tourism meeting the criteria of the environment; and ways to create a livelihood for the community associated with environmental protection.

Through the memoirs, the participants discussed the solutions required to contribute to sustainable tourism development in the Central Highlands.
