Held annually by the business rating company Vietnam Report and the VietnamNet e-newspaper, this year’s event gathered over 400 senior leaders from leading enterprises in Vietnam, as well as foreign economists, mangers and experts.
The conference aims to provide leaders of Vietnam's major businesses with a comprehensive view on the rapidly developed digital transformation trend, as well as new products and services built on existing hi-tech platforms and digitised technologies.
The event is considered a good opportunity for Vietnam's business leaders and the domestic business community to share experiences and discuss with the world's leading experts to shape sustainable and long-term development paths for enterprises, while helping them gradually overcome challenges as Vietnam’s economy enters a new development phase.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam said that the Vietnamese Government aims to make the best use of the opportunities from the 4th Industrial Revolution to promote the national digital transformation, build a digital society and develop a digital economy in a modern and high-performing manner.
Sharing about the national information and communications development strategy for the 2021-2030 period, Tam said that it will focus on realising an e-Government to effectively serve the people and businesses in the digital socio-economic context.
Vietnam needs to develop a strong digital infrastructure and a national database system, thus creating a foundation for digital economic development, he suggested, adding that it is important for Vietnam to develop sustainably by building specific policies to promote the domestic IT sector, in which enterprises are placed at the centre for technological research, applications and transfer.
Speakers at the summit also urged Vietnam to take advantage of technology development opportunities to promote creativity and startups, while boosting the development of the internet of things (IoT), considering it a great opportunity for global connectivity.
At the conference, delegates discussed a range of economic issues in the digital transformation, including blockchain technology application in banking, retail, freight, production and telecommunications. They argued that Vietnam is a good place for blockchain development, offering an opportunity for enterprises and startups to apply this new technology with new opportunities for innovation and competition to reach regional and international levels.
As part of the summit, the Vietnam Report held a ceremony to honour Top 10 prestigious Vietnamese commercial banks, Top 10 reputable insurance companies, Top 10 reputable technology companies and Top 10 reputable listed companies in 2019.
