Under the motto “Be kind to the ocean,” the campaign was launched by the Vietnam Youth Federation - Binh Dinh chapter, in collaboration with TMS Group, for the second year, aimed at joining hands to protect the environment and raising public awareness in environmental protection and saying no to disposable plastic products.
At the launching, Luong Dinh Tien, deputy secretary of the provincial Youth Union cum chairman of the Vietnam Youth Federation - Binh Dinh chapter, said that protecting the ocean and addressing environmental pollution, especially pollution due to plastic waste, is an urgent task that requires regular and long-term cooperation by the whole community, in which youths should be the leading force.
He called on every Youth Union member to take practical actions to control and prevent the arising of daily plastic waste and actively implement the campaign to keep the marine environment free of plastic waste, as "to be kind to the ocean is to be kind to our own life.”

After the launching ceremony, over 1,200 local Youth Union members dispersed to beaches in Quy Nhon and Quy Nhon fishing port area to collect rubbish. The campaign also featured a range of meaningful activities, including a cycling parade to disseminate the environmental protection message, exchanging plastic waste for gifts such as glass jars, and recycling plastic waste.
In particular, waste materials such as tires and bottles will be made into toys, swings, tables, chairs and flowerpots by local youths to build a playground for pupils at a primary school site in Ka Nau village, Canh Lien commune, in the Van Canh mountainous district in Binh Dinh.
