Promoting Vietnamese-European knowledge and technology transfer

A seminar on Vietnamese-European knowledge and technology transfer took place at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, in Hanoi, on September 11.

The event is a part of the Vietnamese - European Knowledge and Technology Transfer Consortium (VETEC) project network development chain - under the Erasmus + Key Action 2 programme funded by the European Commission, aiming to form and develop the technology and knowledge transfer network between universities in Vietnam and Europe with agencies and businesses in Vietnam.

The seminar features the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the European Delegation to Vietnam, representatives of three universities in Europe, various universities in Vietnam, and a number of researchers and enterprise.

Participants focused on discussions on a number of topics such as: government policy on knowledge and technology transfer; models of innovation and start-ups in Vietnam; the connection between enterprises and schools in transferring technology; Cultural changes and challenges in innovation at universities and businesses.

The VETEC project is coordinated by Belgium-based Vrije Universiteit Brussel, in partnership with a university in Germany, TU Dresden; Aveiro University South in Portugal; Hanoi University of Science and Technology; Hue University; and Can Tho University.

The VETEC project has been implemented for three years, from September 2016 to October 2019. The project aims to build training models for officials and managers to help Vietnamese partners improve their knowledge and technology transfer capacity and enhance their access to businesses.

In order to achieve the goal, the project implemented training courses on technology and knowledge transfer for leaders and officials at European partner schools, after that, the team will be retrained at universities in Vietnam with the support of experts from Europe.
