Vietnam attends International Cyber Week in Singapore

The 4th edition of Singapore International Cyber Week (SICW) 2019 opened on October 1, bringing together a number of prominent global policy makers, thought leaders and industry experts.

The Vietnamese delegation attending the event was led by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security of Singapore, Teo Chee Hean said in order to realise the benefits of digitalisation, countries, businesses and people need to work together.

More dialogue and cooperation among governments and the private sector will also be needed to help find better solutions to build a shared future as well as help deal with sophisticated cyber threats, and strengthen trust and confidence in digital systems, he added.

Themed “Partnerships for Trust and Confidence”, the three-day event emphasised the importance of close collaborations among governments, industry and various stakeholders to ensure a trusted and secure cyberspace which can act as an enabler for economic growth.

Events under the SICW umbrella include the ASEAN Ministerial Conference on Cybersecurity (AMCC), GovernmentWare (GovWare) exhibition and conference, ASEAN Cybercrime Prosecutors’ Roundtable Meeting, SICW Cybersecurity Lecture, and the International Common Criteria Conference.
