Vietnam will be the first country to host the event in its new name, ITU Digital World (formally known as the ITU Telecom World). The name reflects the current global and regional digital transformation, focusing on partnership and innovation in the development of digital government, economy and society.

The annual event, co-organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), will feature the theme “Building the digital world together.” It is expected to welcome more than 5,000 delegates from over 100 ITU member countries around the world.

During the four days, a series of events will be held, including a forum, ministerial roundtables, symposiums, a networking programme, and the ITU Digital World Awards honouring the innovative ICT solutions which have productive and worthwhile impacts on society.

An international exhibition will also be organised, with innovative products, technologies and applications on display.

The MIC is currently working with the ITU to orientate forum topics for the ITU Digital World 2020, with a focus on the areas of connection, innovation and digital transformation, and digital sustainability and corporate responsibility.

Trieu Minh Long, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department at the MIC, hailed the ITU Digital World 2020 as an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its central role in the field of ICT in the ASEAN region. In addition, the event will enable domestic ICT firms to foster partnerships with leading technology companies around the world, while contributing to advertising Vietnam’s ICT products and services.
