Accordingly, a series of activities will be held in response to World Oceans Day (June 8) and World Environment Day (June 5).

The organisers also set the target to organise activities with the direct participation of the community, such as campaigns launched to clean the environment, to collect and dispose of waste, and to encourage the use of public transport to minimise sources of air pollution, as well as planting trees in urban and residential areas.

Along with that, a series of conferences on the management, exploitation and use of natural resources and environmental protection in a sustainable manner will also be held, serving socio-economic development and ensuring security and defence.

This year's event focuses on the renewal in building and implementing plans of ministries, departments and local authorities to materialise the Government’s resolution No. 26/NQ-CP on the implementation of resolution No. 36-NQ/TW on the strategy for the sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy by 2030, with a vision to 2045.

The World Oceans Day 2020 themed “Innovation for a sustainable ocean” introduces new methods, ideas, and products in ocean-related sectors, such as high technology, infrastructure systems, resource management, new scientific and technological products.
