The contest was launched on June 19 by the Animals Asia Foundation in collaboration with the Hanoi Forest Protection Department and Phung Thuong Elementary School.

It called on local students to join hands to protect bears, end bear bile use and promote herbal plant alternatives to bear bile.

The contest attracted enthusiastic participation from the students, who were grouped into 87 teams, and together they answered the question: “As a member of a communication team, what will you do to project bears?”.

The students showed their creativity in answering the questions through various forms, including paintings, writing letters, and collecting medicinal herbs that could replace bear bile before making presentations in front of the judges.

As a result, 11 first, 23 second and 53 third place prizes were presented at the ceremony.

Since 2016, the Animals Asia Foundation has been launching communication events in Phuc Tho District to raise local awareness of bear protection in the hope of rescuing more bears in Phuong Thuong Commune, which is reported to be keeping more than 140 bears in cages on 22 farms.
