The senior government leader announced the launch of the online vehicle registration service at a meeting held at the Government Headquarters in Hanoi on July 29, discussing the progress of developing the online public service system.
According to Minister Dung, it is expected that on August 15, the Prime Minister will attend the opening ceremony of the National Reporting Information System and the Government's Steering and Information Centre. At the ceremony, the 1,000th public service, on online car and motorbike registration, will be announced and put into operation.
Marking the 1,000th public service to be put online on the National Public Service Portal, the service allows residents and businesses to register cars and motorcycles as well as pay registration tax online, regardless of time and administrative boundaries.
The opening ceremony will also announce a number of other public services integrated on the portal, such as the collection of social insurance, health insurance, unemployment insurance, and occupational accident - disease insurance.
Director of the Administrative Procedures Management Department (under the Government Office) Ngo Hai Phan said that the department has discussed with the police, taxation, customs and registration authorities, as well as the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group, on the deployment of the online service on vehicle registration plates on the National Public Service Portal.
Accordingly, the service has been suggested by the department to run a trial on made-in-Vietnam cars in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from mid-August, before expanding to other localities nationwide from November this year, for both domestically produced and imported unused vehicles.
As of July 28, there were 875 administrative procedures provided online on the National Public Service Portal.
The system has recorded more than 204,000 registered accounts, an increase of 26,000 over the previous month, while over 53 million have visited and performed services on the portal.
Over 12.6 million records have been synchronised with the portal for searching, monitoring and evaluating the process of handling administrative procedures.
In addition, over 226,000 records were processed online, an increase of more than 75,000 compared to the previous month. On average, each day the portal receives and processes nearly 3,500 online records.
