NDO – Localities across the nation continue to hold tree planting festivals in response to the call from the Prime Minister to plant 1 billion trees within the next five years.

On March 5, in Nam Nhun District, Lai Chau Province, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) held a ceremony to plant and take care of 1 million trees during the 2021-2025 period.

EVN and its affiliates will develop and implement tree planting plans at all their units. It has set the target of planting and caring for 100,000 trees in 2021 alone.

On March 6, in Da Nang, Son Tra District People's Committee and GreenViet Biodiversity Conservation Centre cooperated to organise the launching ceremony to call for socialisation of green trees and entertainment equipment at local parks and gardens in Son Tra.

Accordingly, in 2021, GreenViet will provide trees for four parks and gardens in the district. At the ceremony, local people and the organisers planted 50 coconut trees on the campus grounds of Nai Hien Dong Ward Cultural House.

On the same day, Bac Kan Provincial Police held a ceremony to launch a Lunar New Year (Tet) tree planting festival in tribute to Uncle Ho, who initiated the movement on the occasion of Tet in 1960.

They planted fruit and timber trees to cover the bare land areas at the police training centre in Phung Chi Kien Ward, Bac Kan City.
