NDO – The Vietnam National Space Centre (VNSC) held a ceremony on December 21 to celebrate its 10th founding anniversary (2011-2021) and receive the Prime Minister’s certificate of merit.

The VNSC, formerly known as the National Satellite Centre, under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), was established on September 16, 2011, as a key unit to boost the development of space science and technology and related applications in Vietnam.

One of the important goals of the VNSC is to implement, receive, manage, and operate the official development assistance (ODA) which Japan has granted for the Vietnam Space Centre project

Over the past decade, the centre has gained certain achievements in four main pillars of space technology, space application, space science, training, and popularising cosmic knowledge.

In his speech, VNSC Director General Dr. Pham Anh Tuan reviewed notable achievements of the VNSC over the past ten years, including enhancing high-quality human resources, providing training at the country’s leading universities, and strengthening international cooperation with space agencies in the world.

The dream and now the journey to develop space technology in Vietnam has seen many difficulties ahead, however, true to its slogan “Lift-off your dream”, the VNSC, with its young and enthusiastic staff, is taking firm steps towards realising that dream, he affirmed.
