Addressing the event, Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC's Organisation Commission Truong Thi Mai reviewed the success of the Vietnam Talent Awards over the past editions.
The awards have promoted motivation for the realisation of the initiatives from domestic and foreign individuals and collectives towards successfully developing research, improving their products’ values, expanding their market and affirming their prestige.
In the coming years, science-technology will be the key driving force to improve the quality, competitiveness and growth of the economy, significantly contributing to the country’s rapid and sustainable development, she added.
Politburo member Mai noted that the implementation of policies related to science-technology and the training of staff, especially leading experts and talents, will be a very important condition for the development of science-technology and high-quality human resources.
The first prize in the category of successful information technology product went to Be ride-hailing app by Be Group Joint Stock Company, which recorded 15 million downloads and 3-4 million regular users.
In the field of information technology start-ups and promising digital transformation, two second and three third prizes were awarded.

The technical app for heart transplants from brain-dead multi-organ donors at Cho Ray Hospital was honoured with the first prize in the category of medicine and pharmacy.
Two projects of ‘Building a map of CO2 greenhouse gas emissions in Ho Chi Minh City and proposing solutions to build a low-carbon city’ and ‘Wastewater treatment by aquarium covered with new flora of fescue grass and wastewater treatment solution for industrial park focusing on sustainable development’ won the top awards in the category of natural resources – environment.
The first prize in the science-technology field was presented to the project of researching, designing and manufacturing energy-saving and environmentally-friendly equipment for processing maize seed on an industrial scale.
The 16th Vietnamese Talent Awards, themed “The power of digital transformation”, was officially launched in July 2020. Following two years of postponement due to COVID-19, the awards ceremony was held yesterday.
