Viettel’s security experts win at Pwn2Own 2022

Two security experts from Viettel Cyber Security Company, a subsidiary of Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group have triumphed at the Pwn2Own 2022 contest held in Vancouver, Canada.

In the category of Local Elevation of Privilege, two security experts, namely Dao Trong Nghia and Tran Huu Phu, targeted Microsoft Windows 11.

Dao Trong Nghia, born in 1998, is a network security expert who has discovered more than 12 important security flaws in the Windows operating system. This is the second year in a row that Nghia participated and was honoured at the Pwn2Own contest.

Meanwhile, Tran Huu Phuc Vinh, born in 2000, is a talented young professional participating in the world arena for the first time.

The Pwn2Own 2022, one of the world largest cyber-attack competitions, drew the participation of more than 20 top security experts from around the world, from famous technology companies such as STAR Labs and Sea Security. Viettel was the only representative of Vietnam to participate in the Pwn2Own contest.

The contest aimed to detect security vulnerabilities in smart devices so that manufacturers can immediately fix them, thus helping to keep client information safe.

Tran Huu Phuc Vinh is among the young security experts.

This is the third time Viettel's security experts have been honoured at the contest.
