Initiated in 1996, the Ho Chi Minh and State Awards for Science and Technology have been the most prestigious awards for outstanding and high-value projects that have had a great impact on the people’s lives as well as significantly contributed to the cause of socio-economic development and the maintenance of security.

Out of 95 scientific and technological projects registered for the awards, nine were honoured with Ho Chi Minh Awards and seven received State Awards.

Addressing the awards ceremony, President Tran Dai Quang noted that he appreciated the great achievements that the science and technology sector has made over the years and congratulated winners of the Awards.

He emphasised that scientific and technological development is a consistent line and policy of the Vietnamese Party and State. In addition to education and training, science and technology have become a motivation for socio-economic development and an important condition for protecting national independence and successfully building socialism, the President added.

The State leader also said that under the leadership of the Party, State and governments at all levels and thanks to the efforts, enthusiasm and passion of scientific and technological officials, enterprises and people from all strata, the science and technology sector has seen numerous important achievements, practically contributing to the country’s construction and development.

It is essential to promote all resources as well as the Vietnamese people’s intellectual potential, particularly the intelligentsia and scientific and technological officials, President Quang noted.

He asked the Ministry of Science and Technology, other ministries, agencies and localities to pay attention to training and honouring officials and experts who have made important contributions to science and technology.
