Attending the launch of the technology group CMC Corporation’s Innovation Centre and its CMC Creative Fund on February 26, the deputy PM said that Vietnam has witnessed many young entrepreneurs succeed with creative ideas and unique startup projects.

However, to help the startup community develop more strongly, it is necessary to have the support of the Government, enterprises, consultants and investment funds in all processes of calling for investment, facilitating registration, protecting intellectual property, providing tax incentives, connecting creative space and creating a startup ecosystem.

Congratulating the CMC on the inauguration of its new centre, Deputy PM Dam said that this can be considered a milestone for the development of the group and the startup community in Vietnam as a whole.

The CMC Innovation Centre, stationed on the 19th floor of CMC Tower, No. 11 Duy Tan Street in Hanoi’s Cau Giay District and covering 600 square metres, will serve as a centre for training and sharing on technology, as well as a bridge for connections and support for innovative projects within the CMC, as well as the technology community.

Creative centres should be set up in many places, especially in major universities and corporations and must have stronger connections, Deputy PM Dam said, adding that each group and each company has its own strengths and opportunities, but if there are more connections and more sharing, there will be more new opportunities.

He said that the success of Nguyen Ha Dong with the “Flappy Bird phenomenon,” as well as many other young people, needs to be shared with young people. That requires awareness and concrete actions to address issues by both the government and the community, that prevent these young people and startups from sharing their experiences of success.

Saying that startups that really are creative in Vietnam currently make up less than one percent of the total businesses, Deputy PM Dam expressed his hope that in the future, the number of creative startups will be at a high, up to 10%.

In addition, he also affirmed that to take advantage of any industrial revolution, it is important to continue to improve the business environment, enhance competitiveness and innovative national creative models, as well as enhance the universalisation of scientific and technological knowledge. All relevant ministries, authorities, the business community and society have to be involved in that process, he stressed.
