The facility is the second phase of a project to develop and apply green technologies. It has a total investment of VND 56 billion (US$2.45 million) sourced from the state budget under the national target programme on response to climate change and promotion of green growth.
The centre, sitting on an area of 30 hectares, has workshops for researching and manufacturing microbiological fertiliser, along with areas for plant breeding studies.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Van Thang said the centre would help the province develop clean agricultural production. Local people in the district will receive assistance from the centre to switch to green, clean, water-saving and climate-resilient cultivation.
The centre, which is funded by the ministry’s Vietnam Academy of Water Resources, is scheduled to be completed by late December 2018. Similar projects are being implemented in Hai Duong, Hanoi and HCM City.
