Hanoi, Japanese firm from partnership in developing smart city

The Hanoi People’s Committee, BRG Group and Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation have signed a cooperation agreement on developing the Nhat Tan-Noi Bai urban project, with total investment of more than US$4 billion, aiming to build the most modern smart city of Southeast Asia in the north of Hanoi.

The deal was inked on June 5 in Tokyo, during Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s ongoing visit to Japan.

Earlier, the BRG Group signed an agreement with the Sumitomo Corporation, one of the three largest enterprises of Japan, to develop the project in April. The BRG also chose P&T Consultants to provide consultancy for the project.

The total construction area of the project is 2,080 hectares, along both sides of the Vo Nguyen Giap road, including four main sections with a length of 11.7km.

The detailed planning of the three sections, with total length of some 11.1km, was approved in early 2016.
