Dinh Huu Phi, Head of the NOIP (under the Ministry of Science and Technology), said that intellectual property in general, and inventions in particular, have contributed significantly to socio-economic development, thereby increasing the assets of businesses and improving the competitiveness in the market.
Particularly, the creation of new inventions and technical solutions has contributed significantly to promoting innovation and improving the quality of life, he added.
After the two previous events in 2013 and 2014, the contest has attracted more than 300 technical solutions competing in various technical fields, such as mechanics, automation, new materials, environmental technology and biotechnology. Many solutions have been commercialised successfully both at home and abroad, such as a cheap rice harvester model with cost saving and reduced fuel and rice losses.
This year, the event is held under the theme of “Technological creativity for the daily life," aiming to encourage innovative activities in order to create new, broadly applicable, technologies and technical solutions to meet the practical needs in life, thereby contributing to the national socio-economic development.
Highly useful and applicable solutions will be supported in the country and abroad, as well as receiving many other supports from the State to promote them in reality.
According to the organising board, every Vietnamese citizen residing, working and living in the country, who have technical solutions that are subject to patent protection in all technical fields, with its first public announcement (in the country or abroad) or first applied in Vietnam after May 31, 2013, and have not attended the previous events in 2013 and 2014, are eligible for registration.
The competition will last from August 2018 to April 2019. Also in August, the organising committee will host orientation workshops to instruct and provide training on the use of patent information, as well as offering related information on the contest, for interested parties.
