The Prime Minister made the request while addressing the opening ceremony of the national innovation and start-up festival Techfest 2018 in Da Nang city on November 29.

He expressed his belief that the strong wave of start-ups in Vietnam today will help to form gifted generations of businesses, saying that creative ideas in start-up provide a new source of resource for the country at a time when there are few natural resources to exploit.

He encouraged Vietnamese youths to embrace their fear and difficulties in doing innovative start-ups in order to master the country’s future, emphasising that the Government always provides full support for the national innovative start-up ecosystem and creative start-up ideas.

Techfest is hosted annually by the Ministry of Science and Technology to create connections for domestic and foreign stakeholders in the start-up ecosystem.

This year’s event attracts hundreds of Vietnamese and foreign investors, venture capital funds, big enterprises and start-up supporting organisations. In particular, the event will host representatives from the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) – the world’s largest start-up network..

With around 200 booths displaying start-up products in various fields, the two-day event is expected to welcome 4,500 visitors.

The two-day event includes diversified activities, such as the global young Vietnamese intellectual forum, dialogues between Government leaders and young people, meetings between Vietnamese and international partners, and an awards ceremony for best ideas at Techfest 2018.
