Policies need to call for enterprises’ investment in science and technology

It is essential to set out appropriate policies and mechanisms to attract more investment from enterprises in science and technology for practical benefits.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam made the statement at a conference held by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) in Hanoi on January 21, to review its results in 2018 and revise its performance for 2019.

Speaking at the conference, the Deputy PM hailed the achievements that the MoST gained in the past year, particularly the continuous increase of the innovation index.

According to the survey, 50% of enterprises said that the science and technology sector has made significant progress, particularly in the issuance of new policies and specialised inspectiosn, he added.

Deputy PM Dam said the launch of the Micro Dragon satellite into orbit marked the success of the Vietnamese science and technology sector, showing that the country is gradually mastering satellite manufacturing technology.

Deputy PM Dam also pointed out several limitations in the development and management of science and technology, urging changes in thinking and method to help Vietnamese hi-tech products enter both domestic and foreign markets.
