The forum aims to introduce the environment, investment opportunities in the field of water supply, drainage and treatment in Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general. Meanwhile the event also aims to promote and attract investment from Germany, as well as to connect enterprises and strengthen the cooperation between the two countries.

According to the Chairman of VWSA, Cao Lai Quang, Vietnam's water industry is still limited, the water supply and drainage system is not synchronized, the service scope is low, the rate of consumption is high and waste is still wasted.

Vietnam has been implementing many solutions, such as research and renovation of policy mechanisms, technology application, investment attraction, and especially the attachment of special importance to international cooperation, to gain experience in implementing and managing the water sector.

Speaking at the forum, German Ambassador to Vietnam Christian Berger said that in the past, Germany also had many polluted rivers and people had less access to clean water.

But thanks to the focus on solving the problems of the water sector, up to now, 99.8% of households in Germany have treated domestic wastewater. Quality drinking water in Germany can be taken directly at the tap.

German technologies for dealing with water sector issues have been highly appreciated in the world and Germany is willing to support and accompany other countries in the issue.

At the forum, other delegates focused on exchanging and discussing issues such as needs for investment in water supply, drainage and treatment in Hanoi; issues related to European standards of drinking water and wastewater treatment with respective Vietnamese standards; issues to consider and promote the water sector in Hanoi; and wastewater treatment technologies.
