Winners of HCM City’s I-Star Awards honoured

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology presented I-Star Awards for creativity, innovation and business start-ups on October 19.

This year’s awards were granted to 12 organisations and individuals who have made outstanding achievements in start-up and innovation activities.

Five months after its launch, the organising board had received 277 entries, including 40 entries voted to the final round in four different categories.

Three business start-ups showing creativity, economic efficiency and positive impacts on society were honoured, namely BusMap, 689Cloud and TK25.

Three honoured organisations and individuals offering innovative solutions that benefit the community included the STEAM model developed by Le Quy Don Secondary School, an education solution developed by Kdi Education JSC, and a solution on the issuance of business registration certificates developed by the Economic Division of Ho Chi Minh City’s District 3.

In addition, three media works creating a strong impact on the community and three incubator organisations supporting innovation and start-ups were also honoured at the ceremony.

According to Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology Nguyen Viet Dung, the annual I-Star Awards have contributed to promoting innovation and the application of research results to production and business activities as well as spreading the innovation and start-up spirit in all areas.

The awards ceremony was held on the sidelines of the 2019 Ho Chi Minh City Innovation, Startup and Entrepreneurship Week (WHISE 2019).
