This is the first time an international conference on human resources was held in Vietnam.

The event saw the participation of over 120 delegates from 17 countries, including many scholars, policy makers, experts and human resource managers from Vietnam and abroad.

The participates discussed ten major groups of issues, including human resources in the country, region and world; human resources with sustainable development; and training in enterprises and workplaces.

According to the Rector of the Foreign Trade University, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan, the conference was held based on the urgent demands of human resource development in Vietnam in the context of the industrialisation and modernisation of the economy, the international integration and the profound impact of the fourth industrial revolution.

Head of the Higher Education Department under the Ministry of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Kim Phung said that the innovation of higher education is one of the key solutions to develop high-quality human resources to meet the needs of rapid and sustainable development in Vietnam.

The relevant agencies should continue to complete the legal framework and effectively implement the Law on Amendment and Supplement of some articles of the Law on Higher Education in 2018, as well as enhance investment, attract new resources and effectively utilise resources for higher education.

Universities, colleges and other high education institutions should focus on improving the infrastructure and the quality of teachers and managers as well as closely coordinating with enterprises to grasp the demands of the labour market.
