The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam along with hundreds of enterprises, start-up groups, investment funds and domestic and foreign investors.

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), start-up and innovation activities in Vietnam have been growing rapidly over the past three years with the creation of a national start-up and innovation ecosystem and a legal framework for such activities.

The network of intermediary organisations that support start-up and innovation has also seen strong growth while 52 provinces and cities have adopted plans and earmarked resources to support start-up activities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy PM Dam praised the MOST for organising practical events to promote start-ups and innovations, contributing to the overall socio-economic achievements.

He stated that in addition to highly appreciating Vietnam’s sustained high economic growth, the international community is also impressed at Vietnam’s start-up and innovation index.

But the Deputy PM noted that as a developing country, Vietnam still has much to do so as not to miss the fourth industrial revolution.

Techfest 2019 will run until December 6.
