Vietnamese students achieve excellent results at international Physics, Biology and Mathematical Olympiads

Vietnamese students secured five gold, six silver and four bronze medals at the International Physics Olympiad 2021 (IPhO 2021), the International Biology Olympiad 2021 (IBO 2021), and the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2021), as announced by the Quality Management Department under the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).

Specifically, at the IPhO 2021, Nguyen Manh Quan and Tran Quang Vinh from the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, and Trang Dao Cong Minh from Hanoi National University's High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences secured the gold medals.

The silver medals went to Nguyen Trong Thuan from the Lam Son High School for the Gifted in central Thanh Hoa province and Bui Thanh Tan from the Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted in central Nghe An province.

IPhO 2021 was organised virtually by Lithuania, and saw the participation of 368 candidates worldwide. In the end, Vietnam ranked seventh after the Republic of Korea, China, Russia, the US, Taiwan (China) and Romania.

Meanwhile, according to the official results from the host Portugal on July 23, all four Vietnamese students competing at the IBO 2021 also won prizes, including one gold, two silvers and one bronze medal.

Dang Le Minh Khang from the Ly Tu Trong High School for the Gifted in Can Tho city won the gold medal while Ha Manh Duy from the Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted in Vinh Phuc province and Nguyen Thi Nga from the Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted in Phu Tho province brought home silver medals.

The bronze medal went to Vo Tien Thanh also from the Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted in Phu Tho province.

At the IMO 2021. Do Bach Khoa from the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted won the gold medal.

Two silver medals went to Dinh Vu Tung Lam and Truong Tuan Nghia from Hanoi National University’s High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences.

The three bronze medallists are Phan Huu An from from Hanoi National University’s High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences; Phan Huynh Tuan Kiet from the Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted in Ho Chi Minh City and Vu Ngoc Binh from the Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted in Vinh Phuc province.
