More support given to implement ‘Internet and computers for students’ programme

The Vinh Long Provincial People’s Committee launched a fund-raising event on October 2 in response to the ‘Internet and computers for students’ programme, which aims to provide computers and telecom services for needy students and pupils to facilitate their online learning amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking at the event, Secretary of the provincial Party’s Committee Bui Van Nghiem reported that more than 29,000 students in the province do not have devices for online learning and 110 schools do not have an internet connection

He called on individuals and organisations in the province make donations to assist needy students and take more practical actions to care for students, particularly those who have become orphans due to COVID-19 as well as children living in difficulty.

At the event, more than VND3 billion and a total of 1,039 tablets were donated by benefactors to support local students.

EVN Hanoi is implementing a programme on delivering Online learning devices worth VND500 million to disadvantaged children in Hanoi.

* In a move to support the online learning of disadvantaged students, the FPT group and Hope Fund will present 3,300 devices and software serving online learning worth 8 billion to children in seven southern provinces including Can Tho, Dong Nai, Dong Thap, Tra Vinh, Tay Ninh, Bn Tre, and Ba Ria – Vung Tau this October.

In a similar effort, the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) – Hanoi has been implementing a programme on delivering 70 online learning devices worth VND500 million in total to needy students in Hanoi’s eight districts of My Duc, Thuong Tin, Phu Xuyen, Thanh Oai, Ba Vi, Thanh Tri, Gia Lam and Son Tay.
