The Vietnamese team ranked third in the medal tally, after China and Russia. This is the highest achievement of the Vietnamese students who have competed at the APIO in the past 10 years.

The three gold medallists were Truong Van Quoc Bao, from Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted in Nghe An Province, along with Duong Minh Khoi and Tran Xuan Bach, both from the Hanoi University of Science’s High School for Gifted Students.

The APIO is an International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI)-like competition for delegations within the Asian and Western Pacific regions. The first competition was organised by the Australian IOI team in 2007.

APIO 2022 attracted 888 contestants from 35 countries and territories who competed online in their own areas on May 28 and 29.
