The opening ceremony was jointly held by the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand in coordination with the Vietnamese Thai Association and the Vietnamese Thai Entrepreneurs’ Association.

The first Vietnamese language class was attended by 10 members. The class is expected to help overseas Vietnamese families in Thailand to maintain their mother tongue and teach the language to the younger generations.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand, Nguyen Hai Bang, emphasised that the Vietnamese Party and State pay great attention to teaching Vietnamese to the overseas Vietnamese community.

Bang noted that there are many favourable conditions for the opening of the Vietnamese language course in Thailand thanks to the support of the Royal family and the Thai Government, in addition to a large number of Vietnamese in Thailand and the patriotic tradition of overseas Vietnamese people.

The Ambassador said that the Vietnamese language classes will contribute to preserving the cultural and traditional values of Vietnamese people not only in Thailand but throughout the world, thereby encouraging overseas Vietnamese to make more contributions to Vietnam.

Nguyen Thi Loi, an overseas Vietnamese person in Bangkok, said that generations of Vietnamese people in Bangkok have been looking for such a language class for years, adding that the class will create motivation for Vietnamese people in Bangkok to consolidate their solidarity and encourage exchanges between Vietnamese people in Thailand.
