Vietnamese leaders attend school-year opening ceremonies

Senior leaders visited schools throughout Vietnam on the morning of September 5 to attend ceremonies that mark the opening of the 2018-2019 academic year.

In Hanoi, President Tran Dai Quang beat the drums at the Chu Van An High School, which was founded 110 years ago and is renowned for its excellent academic performance.

In his speech, the State leaders praised the school for its achievements and urged its teachers and students to make even greater efforts to further increase its educational quality.

Several notable alumni of Chu Van An High School include General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu, Prime Minister Pham Van Dong and Lao General Secretary and President Kaysone Phomvihane.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended the school opening ceremony at Tu Mo Rong Ethnic Boarding School in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum.

The government leader shared the difficulties facing the school as a result of the recent floods and landslides, while commending its efforts to prepare for the new school year.

The PM extended his best wishes to the school’s teachers and students, expressing his expectation that they would achieve good results and enhance the educational quality in the new academic year.

The same day, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan attended the opening ceremony at Le Hong Phong High School for Gifted Students in Ho Chi Minh City.

She congratulated the school for its achievements in both academic subjects and extracurricular activities as evidence of the school’s aim of educating comprehensive persons.
