Vice President attends Hanoi Medical University's new school-year ceremony

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh joined thousands of students at the Hanoi Medical University to attend the opening ceremony for the 2018-2019 academic year on September 6.

Addressing the ceremony, the Vice President congratulated and praised the university for its outstanding achievements and for the efforts of all of its lecturers and staff over the past 116 years.

The university has made great contributions to human resources training in Vietnam's medical sector, having produced more than 7,500 PhDs and Masters, 16,000 doctors and hundreds of thousands of medical students.

The university has also developed a number of new training programmes and piloted new majors to meet the demand for international integration in the medical field.

Vice President Thinh expressed her wish that lecturers, staff and students of the university will continue to promote their tradition to fulfil all assigned tasks in the new school-year.

Rector of the Hanoi Medical University Nguyen Duc Hinh said that the 2018-2019 academic year welcomes approximately 2,500 graduate students and 1,152 new students.

He noted that the university is taking every effort to renew its operations towards autonomy in the near future.
