Senior officials attend opening of new school year at journalism and politics academies

A ceremony to mark the start of the 2018-2019 academic year was held at the Academy of Journalism and Communication in Hanoi on September 10.

According to the head of the academy, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Truong Ngoc Nam, in the past school year 2017-2018, the facility implemented the accreditation of educational quality in accordance with the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training, in which 50 out of all 61 criteria were met.

Dr. Nam also said that the rate of graduates with stable jobs after graduation has reached over 80%, even 100% in several majors. This academic year, there are more than 2,000 new regular students enrolling to study at the academy, he added.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Xuan Thang, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Theoretical Council, praised the efforts and achievements of the journalism academy in the past school year, saying that the school has been recognised as meeting the educational quality standard, which is a particularly excellent result affirming its key position among the nation’s major universities.

Thang, who is also Secretary of the Party Central Committee, suggested that the academy continues to improve its training programme towards providing education in a systematic, modern and practical manner, attaching importance to the comprehensive development of learners.

The school should focus on the review of practical research and timely provide scientific arguments for the planning of the Party and State's policies related to ideological work, journalism and communications, he added.

* Earlier, on Monday morning, the Hanoi-based Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics held a similar ceremony to open the 2018-2019 school year with the presence of Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, Pham Minh Chinh.

Politburo member Chinh praised the academy’s efforts in expanding its training programmes in accordance with the new content under the 12th National Party Congress’s documents and related resolutions of the 12 Party Central Committee’s Conferences, while adding other major international and domestic issues to its syllabus.

He urged the academy to continue closely following the Party’s regulations and resolutions in developing training methods for Party officials, especially those in senior positions, to prepare for the next 13th National Party Congress.

It was asked to promote scientific research and improve training quality while providing scientific and practical arguments to effectively implement the Party's major undertakings.
