Ho Chi Minh City, Finland strengthen cooperation in education

Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Le Thanh Liem hosted a reception on August 13 for Director General at the Finnish National Agency for Education, Olli-Pekka Heinonen, who is on a working visit to the southern economic hub to seek ways to promote cooperation between the two sides education.

At the meeting, Liem expressed his pleasure at the effective development in Vietnam - Finland relations in various fields, including science, technology, education and renewable energy. The HCM City’s leader praised Finland's experience and strengths in education and expressed his wish to further promote cooperation between the two sides in the field.

Liem also congratulated the HCM City-based Vietnam - Finland International School – the first Finnish model school in Vietnam – is starting their operation in the upcoming 2019-2020 new schoolyear, saying that it is an important event marking the development of Vietnam - Finland cooperation in the field of education and creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese students to access the world's most advanced education school right in their own city.

In the near future, HCM City wishes to work with Finland to promote exchanges in working missions, teaching experiences and ways to apply advanced educational models from the Finnish side, Liem added.

Hailing the dynamic development of HCM City, Olli-Pekka Heinonen informed his host on the results of his working visit in the city, while expressing his sincere thanks to the city's support for the Finland - Vietnam education projects in the city.

Finland’s side is looking forward to the visit of HCM City leaders to the Northern European country next month, hoping to create more opportunities to expand cooperation between the two sides in the field of education, Olli-Pekka Heinonen stated.

The guest also affirmed that Finland is ready to cooperate with HCM City and share its experiences related to improving the quality of education and applying advanced and modern education models. The commitments of Vietnam and HCM City’s leaders on investment in the education sector show a strategic vision for the country's development and also will create favourable opportunities for Finland and Vietnam, including the city, to strengthen cooperation in the area, Olli-Pekka Heinonen affirmed.
