On behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Trong warmly applauded the great efforts and significant outcomes attained by the educational sector in the past academic year, which marked five years of implementing the Party’s Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW dated November 4, 2013, on fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education.

Teachers and educational management staff have been standardised, while the preparations for the implementation of the new textbook programmes have been actively conducted. The inspection and violation handling work has been enhanced, contributing to rectifying and maintaining discipline in educational activities. In addition, Vietnamese students have won many prizes in international Olympiads, receiving admiration from international friends.

In the 2019-2020 school year, the senior leader urged the education sector to organise the effective implementation of the Party’s guidelines and the State’s laws and policies on education and training, especially the law on amendments and supplements to a number of articles of the Law on Higher Education and the Law on Education (amended) passed by the National Assembly.

The sector should also strengthen the education of the nation’s historical and cultural traditions, ethics, lifestyle and revolutionary ideals to students, while building a safe, healthy and friendly education environment, and striving to effectively fulfill the goals set for the school year and the 2016-2020 five-year plan, he said.

Party leader-President Trong also expressed his hope that teachers would retain their political stance, moral qualities, passion for the cause of education, and innovation in teaching, thus making greater contributions to the cause of human training. He encouraged students to uphold the nation’s learning tradition and nurture their ambition to emulate good learning and good practices to become people with good morality and professions in line with President Ho Chi Minh’s wish.

He ended his letter by wishing that teachers and educational officials, together with students across the nation, will achieve many greater achievements in the new school year.
