NA Committee hosts meeting for former teachers, teachers and education managers

The National Assembly (NA) Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children hosted a meeting in Hanoi on November 19 for former teachers, teachers and education managers on the occasion of the 37th anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20).

The meeting was attended by Politburo members: Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc; NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Mass Mobilisation Commission Truong Thi Mai, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, among others.

Speaking at the meeting, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan extended best wishes to the lawmakers and stressed the importance of the role of teachers in the country’s education and training development over recentyears, especially when implementing the education development strategy for 2011-2020.

She also emphasised that the adoption of the revised Law on Education and a law on amendments and supplements to a number of articles of the Law on Higher Education has created the legal basis to comprehensively renew the education and training system, making contributions to the cause of national development.

The NA Chairwoman expressed her hope that Vietnamese teachers will make greater effort to develop the national education system, to bring it on par with advanced education in the region and the world while serving the nation’s sustainable development in new stage.
