The test questions will mainly cover material studied in the ninth grade, the highest grade of upper secondary level education in Vietnam.

Maths and literature tests will be taken in written form over a duration of 120 minutes while the foreign language test will combine both multiple choice and writing across 60 minutes.

The examination is scheduled to take place on July 17 and 18.

Students applying for specialised high schools for gifted students, including Hanoi-Amsterdam, Nguyen Hue, Chu Van An and Son Tay, will have to take another test in a subject of their choice.

Hanoi has more than 107,000 students in the ninth grade in the 2019-2020 academic year and an estimated 62% will be admitted to government-run schools in the next school year.
