Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha said that following the Government's direction, the Ministry cooperated with the Ministry of Justice and the National Assembly (NA) Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children to develop a plan for organising high school graduation exam in 2020.
The Minister emphasised the need to organise the high school graduation exam as a basis for assessing the quality of general education nationwide according to the output standards.
In order to ensure the quality of the exam, besides administrative and technical solutions, the MOET will continue to organise multiple choice exams to minimise the impact on people during the examination process.
After the exam results are obtained, the MOET will conduct analysis, evaluation and publicise comparative data between the academic transcript scores and the graduation exam scores of localities for public monitoring.
The Ministry of Education and Training said it would continue to receive comments to soon complete the plan to organise the high school graduation exam in 2020 for submission to the competent authorities for consideration and decision.
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the education industry had to adjust the school year milestones, the volume of teaching content and the way in which it was taught. The high school graduation exam will take place after July 1, the time when the Law on Education 2019 and the Law on Higher Education officially take effect.
Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam suggested that the MOET receive ideas and complete the plan to organise the exam, and report to the Government and the Prime Minister, while at the same time, letting pupils and teachers, including universities, take the initiative in studying and exam preparation as well as preparing appropriate enrolment plans.
