Hau Giang: COVID-19 prevention and control drill held at industrial park

The hypothetical scenario was that a company in the industrial park had a worker in close contact with a COVID-19 infection case.

According to Dong Van Thanh, Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee, in the complicated epidemic situation, the Mekong Delta province has strengthened the prevention and control of COVID-19 at production establishments, businesses and industrial parks to ensure the effective implementation of the dual goals of both fighting against the epidemic and developing the economy, and not breaking the supply chain.

On June 19, the People's Committee of Thuan An City in Binh Duong Province officially applied social distancing measures under Directive 16 of the Prime Minister for the entire Binh Chuan Ward; Quarter 1B of An Phu Ward; and Dong An I, Dong An II, Dong An III, Dong Ba quarters of Binh Hoa Ward from 0:00 today until further notice, due to the complicated situation of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province has sent a request to the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, and the Minister of Health on the register to buy 1.5 million doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in July, with the funding coming from businesses, without using Vietnam's Vaccine Fund or the State budget.

On June 19, buses repatriating 204 Thai Binh citizens from Bac Giang Province arrived at Thai Binh University in Tan Binh Commune, Thai Binh City, to place the subjects in concentrated isolation in accordance with regulations.

On the same day, Lao Cai Province blockaded three more areas in Lao Cai City (besides area B of Coc Le Market), in relation to a new infection discovered on the evening of June 17.

The People's Committee of Hung Yen Province has issued a decision allowing all types of services (excluding karaoke, video games, bars, discos, massage, and movie theatres) to resume normal operations from 00:00 on June 19. As of June 18, Hung Yen has passed 21 days without any new COVID-19 cases.

Vietnam today recorded the 63rd and 64th COVID-19-related deaths, both of whom were patients with underlying health conditions, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control's Treatment Subcommittee.

The 63rd deceased patient was a 90-year-old woman living in northern Bac Giang Province who tested positive to COVID-19 on June 12. Despite treatment, her condition worsened, and she died on June 18. Her cause of death has been recorded as severe pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2, progressive respiratory failure, septic shock, and multi-organ failure in a patient with a history of hypertension, diabetes and gangrene.

Meanwhile, the other patient, a 67-year-old man from Ha Trung District, Thanh Hoa Province, also died as a result of COVID-19 complications. He was being treated for lung cancer at Tan Trieu Branch of the K Hospital and tested positive for the coronavirus on May 15, before being transferred to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi's Dong Anh District. Despite extensive treatment, the damage to his lungs was too severe and he died in the early morning on June 19. His cause of death has been recorded as SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia, septic shock and invasive candidiasis, in a patient with stage IV left bronchial cancer. The cancer had also spread to his bones.

As of this noon, a total of 112 new COVID-19 cases were recorded, including 109 domestic and 3 imported.

Of the domestically transmitted cases, 64 were detected in Ho Chi Minh City, 22 in Bac Giang, 14 in Bac Ninh, 3 in Long An, 2 in Hoa Binh, 2 in Nghe An, 1 in Lao Cai and 1 in Hanoi.

By 12 pm on June 19, Vietnam had confirmed 10,945 domestic infections and 1,675 imported COVID-19 cases.

The number of local infections since the fourth wave of outbreaks struck the country on April 27 reached 9,375, including 1,938 recoveries.

A total of 4,733 patients have been given the all-clear from the virus. Among the active patients undergoing treatment at medical establishments, 415 have tested negative to coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once, 100 twice and 71 thrice.
