Hanoi strengthens measures against COVID-19

In the context of the complicated developments of COVID-19, Hanoi has strengthened epidemic prevention and control work to ensure the safety of people.

On the morning of September 4, a monitoring team led by Politburo member and Secretary of municipal Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung went to inspect the checkpoint area at Noi bridge in Co Nhue 2 ward (Bac Tu Liem district), the organisation of traffic flow, control of people and vehicles on national highway 32, Road 70A, Thang Long Boulevard, the roads in the inner city, the suburbs and the checkpoint on Chuong Duong bridge. The team also inspected the organisation of epidemic prevention and control in a residential area in Xuan Tao ward, Bac Tu Liem district.

Directly inspecting the preparation for the establishment of three zones for COVID-19 prevention and control, Politburo member Dinh Tien Dung requires all levels and branches to strengthen propaganda work to create consensus among the people on epidemic prevention and control; creating conditions to promote testing; contributing to soon turning the "red and orange zones" into "green zones".

Director of the Hanoi Police Nguyen Hai Trung said the issuance of travel approval documents to six groups of subjects has been organised and implemented by the city police from the morning of September 4.

On September 5, many people are expected to arrive, Hanoi Police are prepared to proactively organise the implementation of the programme to ensure the issuance of permits.

Secretary of the City Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung affirmed that it is necessary to organise zoning to control the epidemic in accordance with the level of risk after three rounds of implementing city-wide distancing. In particular, the implementation of social distancing under Directive No. 16/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister, even at a higher level for Zone 1, must be organised more closely, substantively and effectively.

He requested the Health sector and localities accelerate testing and screening, making the most of this time of social distancing in Zone 1 until September 21, 2021 to control the epidemic.

He expressed his belief that the people of the city will continue to be deeply aware of the role and position of the capital, the heart of the country, the pride of being Hanoians, raising their sense of community, social responsibility, joining hands with the city to effectively implement the zoning plan, fully determined to repel the epidemic.

According to Director of Hanoi Department of Health Tran Thi Nhi Ha, along with expanding testing, Hanoi city is continuing to deploy COVID-19 vaccination according to the allocation of the Ministry of Health in the fastest, earliest and safest way for people in all localities in fixed and mobile form. Up to now, Hanoi has vaccinated about 32% of the city's population. In the coming time, the city hopes to reach 150,000 vaccination doses per day, and will continue to request the Ministry of Health to allocate vaccines to achieve full vaccination coverage.

Hanoi has signed contracts with public and non-public hospitals in the city to participate in testing, increasing testing capacity to 200,000 samples per day. In the past, the city has organised testing in all blockade areas every 2-3 days, and high-risk areas every 5-7 days in accordance with the direction of the Prime Minister.

In addition, testing will be conducted in areas adjacent to high-risk areas, adjacent to blockade areas, densely populated areas, old and narrow dormitories; on risk subjects such as: Shippers, technology drivers, people who come into contact with many people, sellers at markets, and supermarkets.
