Vietnam reports 8,758 new COVID-19 infections, over 23,500 recoveries

Vietnam recorded an additional 8,758 COVID-19 infections, including 14 imported cases, in the past 24 hours to 5pm on September 29, according to the Ministry of Health.

Ho Chi Minh City, the country’s current largest pandemic hotspot, reported the highest number of infections with 4,699 cases, followed by neighbouring Binh Duong province (2,389), Dong Nai (899), Long An (132) and Soc Trang (112). The capital city reported four cases.

The country has to date logged 779,398 COVID-19 cases.

A total of 23,568 patients were given the all-clear on September 29, raising the number of recoveries to 583,509.

As many as 162 deaths related to the pandemic were announced on the day, raising the tally to 19,098.

On September 28, 1,097,044 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were injected, bringing the total so far to 41,153,041.
